E & S Greetings from a very wet and miserable Chiltern Hills!! Only 4 weeks to Christmas and I guess yours will be one of the best ever.BI speak says "business is going well, at least mark and Uwe seem to be smiling!!KCN project included in the January Conference - good to get it into full rollout phase. Loads of people working hard to make it happen" Philippa as you might expect is getting some action.
Love to read your adventure, a number of places bring back fond memories - needless to say mine was boringly by car.
All the best Ian

Lost in a forest all alone????
That's showing my age!!!
Hope you are having a great time. I am enjoying this part time teaching and painting and writing. Have just sold a painting for £350 which is a good start i guess but could I do with some more sales to pay for the last leg of the studio. Perhaps the christmas present time....
There are about 13 new pictures on my website (www.daffodilblue.com) and I am beginning to slow down a bit and think about what I really want...
I am still a tad bored from time to time, but Annily reminds me how I made her promise not to let me do another course!! Looks like I might be starting another business venture with a friend..
It has been very stormy here recently and my hour cycle ride to and from school has turned into 1hr 15 on way there and 45 mins back!! Well worth those westerlies in the morning to be blown back and feel it is my amazing pedalling power.
Annily has settled in well to her new school and is enjoying learning french. Her Maths has just gone past what I remember. If fact I don't even remember "n". We had "x" and "y" and soem brackets and things.... I bet Elliot could explain. but please don't!
Well, hope to hear from you soon. Take care of those muscley legs

Hi again
just caught up with your blog while entertaining (aka breastfeeding) Marc at 4am... you really make it all very 'real' and the pics are great too. Just a few photos of the 'exciting things (bears, bikers) might improve things - whaddya mean, you didn't want to take pics of the Hells Angels?
Anyway, keep going - cycling AND blogging - and I hope your knees/ bum/ gears hold out for the rest of the trip. I guess by now you're way down south, so it's about time you updated us again or we'll worry the wild rabbits have eaten you both.
take care sarah
PS have you read "Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"? wrong kind of biking but great book...

And that reminds me...... There was supposed to be a really good pub the other side of Huddersfield on the moors towards Manchester.I suggested to my Dad it might be worth a try .So we set off and ,hours later, found this pub in the middle of nowhere. We walked in, and in a Yorkshire version of your North American bar , pints wereput down and what little conversation there was stopped. I`m not one to critise Yorkshire beer but it tasted like my granny`s bath water. In the corner was the the landlord`s dog , some mangy old beast. It quietly puked up. No-one in the pub said anything as the air filled with an acid air.I can only think it was a regular event. Needless to say we reached for our coats.....

Contrary to popular belief I have not fallen off the back of the tandem. Now there is lots of cycling to do, the journal has been slightly neglected, will try to do better. We are one day away from California and Darth is one day away from completing his first 1,000 miles. Yes, bottom is sore but not as bad as the knees!

Just looked at some of your pics - made me feel really envious but doubt that I would ever have the adventure spirit that you 2 clearly have.Stealing a book title "It's not about the bike"!! But you would be hard up without it.I'll send another message soon with boring news of Bracknell - bet you can't wait. Best wishes Ian

So impressed with Elliot's outward nonchalance in the face of a possible midnight bear encounter and then faced with a genuine WILD rabbit armed only with a headtorch - also good to hear DIY follows same model as our house - when you know you've broken it, ask the wife to have a go - loving every report, hope you are both well..now Elliot, about the KCN project....

Hi It's brilliant to see what you're up to on the website, and I'm getting more jealous every day - Lilooet looks absolutely perfect. However in my current condition I don't think I'd fit on Darth, let alone be able to go anywhere :-)
We have a definite sense of "the calm before the storm" here as we wait for arrival of new Annetts - we'll let you know when he/she turns up!
Keep up with the journal, won't you. Hope you and the bears continue to get on ok...

So glad you 2 are doing this. We are awash with the mundane: buying school uniform, painting the house, entertaining relations and doing yet more washing up! But I have been offered more work writing and have done some more paintings ready for my exhibition. I have also been sailing Cut Loose single handed. If all goes well I will have time for a quick 3 day cycle ride from Cherbourg to St Malo while Annily is with my parents for a few days. Let me know where you will be in October and/or Feb in case we can meet up. Happy pedalling! and ps... please sort out the punctuation and spelling on your home page!!! :-)
