We took possession of our new tandem and set off for the inaugural road trial in Scotland. We had three objectives, to see whether we still enjoyed tandeming, to check out "darth" and see if he was up to the big trip and to end up at friends Sam & Rachel's wedding in Malaig on Saturday 27th May. Our trip set off from Oban to the outer Hebrides starting on the Isle of Barra. Then onto South Uist, Benbacular, North Uist and onto Harris and Lewis. We returned via Skye into the obligatory headwind with horizontal driving rain whilst crossing the Cullins! This seemed to fit with the philosophy "Suffering is when we have our greatest learning". Yes is certainly was character building and yes we still really did enjoy riding a tandem and "darth" seemed like the bike for the job. We arrived in Malaig for the wedding and had a fantastic time feeling fired up for our round the world cycling adventure. Lets go..why not ..

Our first time in the Hebrides was fantastic if a little chilly!
